Leave blank to inherit from the school year (or state grade-tier rules if your state has them). Set these only if this student needs different targets than the family default.
They'll need a Google account at this email. Once invited, send them the link below so they can open HomeLog from their own device.
Heads up: this gives them access to everything in your household — all students, all records. Only invite someone you fully trust with your whole family’s data.
Copies subjects (and their grading weights) from a previous year. Anything already in the new year stays untouched.

Your narratives, subject summaries, grades, field trips, and more — all rolled up into one polished document, ready to deliver to your evaluator.
A new tab will open with your portfolio.
💡 To share with your evaluator: in the portfolio tab, use your browser's Print → Save as PDF, then email or send them that PDF. A PDF opens cleanly for anyone, with no logins or links needed.
Embedded photos make the PDF self-contained but larger (and slower to generate). Link-only keeps the PDF small with clickable links to Drive.
Smart (recommended) hides bare routine entries (no notes/photos/checklist) but keeps starred items and anything with substance — the best balance of evidence and readability.
All shows every entry (repetitive ones grouped into expandable rows).
Starred only shows just the entries you've flagged with ⭐ on the Activity tab — for the tightest portfolio.
None omits the daily activity log section entirely — useful when summaries alone are enough.
Cover and school year info are always included.
Daily activity log inclusion is controlled by the toggle above.
Looking for Year overview / Reading / Field trips narratives?
Those appear in the Year in Review document (generated from the Reports tab) — a shorter,
evaluator-friendly companion to the portfolio.
Found a bug, have an idea, or just want to say hi? I read every note. — Carmen
Upload a CSV file. Works with Google Sheets exports, Excel exports, or any other homeschool tracker. We'll auto-detect the columns and let you preview everything before saving.
⚠ Only .csv files. Export from Excel or Google Sheets as CSV first.
Not sure how to format your file? Download a template with the right columns and example rows.
Star the entries that best represent the year. Starred entries can be filtered to in the Portfolio (try "Starred only" mode) for a tight, curated deliverable. You can re-run this anytime.
Scanning entries…
Suggestions are based on keywords in the activity text. Change any that look off, or pick "— skip —" to leave an entry alone.
Pick what to clear and which students it applies to.
Most homeschool trackers are blank spreadsheets. HomeLog comes pre-loaded with a curriculum library covering core subjects and activities, plus the homeschool requirements for all 50 U.S. states. We'll have you set up in about a minute.
Pick subjects and activity templates to add. They become editable copies in this student's curriculum — the library stays unchanged. Already-present subjects are skipped.
Pin curriculum URLs, reference materials, and online tools you use for the homeschool. Pinned items float to the top.
Your active curriculum — what's set up for this student right now. Browse pre-built sets with 📚 From library, or build your own with + Add subject and + Add template.
Your own at-a-glance view of how the year is shaping up.
Track which days were school days, holidays, or absences for state compliance. Days with logged entries auto-count as school days, so most of the year fills in automatically — use this view to mark holidays, absences, or school days when nothing was formally logged.
Click any day to cycle: school → holiday → absent → unmarked.
Used on report cards and exports. Both parents will see the same values.
You can add as many as you need. Archive instead of deleting to preserve history. If you do want to permanently remove a student and everything tied to them (their school years, subjects, entries, books, and records), delete the student last — after removing those related items first.
Each student has their own school years, so children on different schedules (a high schooler and a preschooler, say) can have different dates and targets. Add a year per student, then pick which one is active.
Bring existing entries from a spreadsheet. Works with CSV exports from Google Sheets, Excel, or any other homeschool tracker. Maps columns automatically, previews everything before saving.
Archive current subjects and templates so you can pick fresh from the library for a new year. Existing entries, grades, photos, books, attendance, and narratives stay intact — only the curriculum-level setup is cleared.
Grade display. Grade visibility is set per student. Check "Hide grades" for any student who's narrative-only or too young for grading — that hides grade pills, Dashboard summary, and the Portfolio grade section for that student.
The recommended order for getting set up — handy if you ever want a refresher or are adding a new student.
Tip: the "Get started" card on the Activity tab tracks steps 1–4 and 6 for your household. It won’t reset when you add another student later.
